Trust Women is committed to find real solutions to empower women and to fight slavery worldwide. The annual event brings together global corporations, lawyers, government representatives and pioneers in the field of women’s rights and anti-slavery.
The 2015 annual conference brought together 550 global leaders from 50 countries. These included Brazil, Australia, China, India, Kyrgyzstan and Switzerland. The two-day event reached 65 million people worldwide. This was through extensive media coverage and highly interactive social media engagement.
Our brief
LUX Technical were engaged by the Thomson Reuters Foundation to support and further enhance the presentation and technical production of their two-day annual conference. The event was held at the famous, Landmark Hotel in London.
Led by Peter Gibbons, LUX Technical designed a simple, yet, stylish conference set and technical solution for the challenging space. It was decided that the space would be laid out in an unconventional format. This would therefore allow for more delegate seating. However because of this new design, it created some exciting challenges for the team designing the set! The final design included four large seamless projection screens, with a large seamless printed backdrop behind a streamlined carpeted stage.
The technology
Panasonic PT-RZ670 laser projectors were supplied for the four screens. These clearly displayed the live camera feeds, keynote presentations and prerecorded video. Alongside this there was the bespoke Twitter/Instagram wall LUX designed and integrated.
LUX Technical’s in house multimedia team was headed up by Rob Harvey. Rob handled all preparation and presentation of the screen content. Live switching was managed through Blackmagic ATEM 4K production studio and broadcast panel. LUX looked after filming and live streaming of the conference with brand new Panasonic AG-DVX-200 4K cameras. The content was streamed on the clients preferred platform, YouTube. Consequently, this stream was viewed by a worldwide audience across the two days. This allowed the online audience to engage and participate with the conference via Twitter. The multimedia team also delivered the stream to four other rooms throughout the hotel. This, in addition, included additional seamless projection screens and our LCD screens in the press and preparation room’s.
Sound & Lighting
We provided crystal clear, natural sound throughout the venue, using D&B T10s, V SUBs and D80 amplifiers. We also used our K-Array KR200 system’s for a compact solution in the breakout rooms. Our dedicated Sound no. 2, Sarah, was on hand. Her role was to securely and comfortably fit our colour co-ordinated DPA d:fine headset microphones to all the presenters.
In Conclusion
Building on our theatrical heritage at LUX Technical, we also helped further enhance the conference awards and presentations. We did this with the use of different lighting states. Furthermore the use of a follow-spot to subtly changed the feel of the conference in the evening.
We provided 36 of the Core Colourpoint MKII uplighter’s, for the main conference space and the venue. This in turn gave a more intimate co-ordinated feel to the event. In addition, we also provided all of the large print and signage material throughout the venue and furniture for the stage.
Most importantly, our personal approach, our dedicated event producer and our team’s desire to really get involved with all the finer technical details was therefore key. In conclusion, the support and communication we provided in producing the annual conference was an enjoyable experience for all involved. We are looking forward to our future relationships and projects with the team at the Thomson Reuters Foundation.
