Some might say that our specialism lies in developing highly creative, forward thinking lighting design. We are impressed, educated and continuously inspired by the sheer variety of technical event equipment available. Anyone can throw some lights on a wall, flip the switch and immediately create atmosphere – it takes something a little extra however to create an influential lighting inspiration catalogue. It is our mission to bring these new technologies to the events industry.

Developing inspirational lighting concepts takes time, nurturing technical awareness and matching this with practical skills that can be accommodated in a budget. We have the privilege of working in some of the UK’s most unique venues and at times we are restricted by grade-listed properties – this spurs us on to create alternative solutions which are equally as impressive.

But we all started somewhere and have built upon our knowledge of technical lighting design by looking at other work and industry disciplines. From theatre to live arena shows, orchestral concerts to installations and from film to exhibitions, our team draw their inspiration visually and with empathy for tried and tested methods. We use these inspirations and implement the knowledge into our own work to create original schemes hopefully to inspire the next generation of budding lighting designers.

To develop any lighting inspiration catalogue we feel it is important to look at the past and to truly celebrate moments that were considered breath taking, whilst ensuring your inspirations are informed by a variety of different disciplines. As well as some of our own work, here are selections of designs that have inspired our own lighting inspiration catalogue:

Bureau Betak

The work of the French creative events agency, Bureau Betak, is a portfolio that impresses us time and time again. Their events incorporate a full range of technical design solutions, at all times creating a chic atmosphere and creative ambience for guests to enjoy. This agency is a rare gem and are always at the very top of their game.

War Child

LUX Technical had the opportunity to work alongside The Events Mill to produce the Winter Wassail for War Child UK. This event was hosted by War Child’s global ambassadors, Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford, and LUX Technical created a lighting design to accompany ethereal floating clouds made of wire, as well as dramatically lighting every nook and cranny of One Mayfair.

Fashion Shows

We appreciate elegance and precision in our work and regularly look to the fashion industries that shape our appreciation of how to showcase product and collections in the most effective way. Catwalk shows are presented a global platform but are fleeting in nature – we appreciate the necessity for absolute perfection within the lighting design. 

Take That Tour

As well as audio lighting plays a huge role in creating atmosphere and illusions. The Circus Live Tour by Take That is a fantastic example of how a creative performance is truly brought to life using lighting as one of the core design elements. 

Kinetic

Kinetic lighting installations are growing in popularity, perhaps due to their calming qualities and beautiful movement. This standalone pieces are a great inspiration to Lux Technical showing how light can create emotion and a calm atmosphere for the viewer.

Theatre – Come To Bed

Within any theatrical performance the audience is key. We love creating immersive experiences, such as the Come To Bed at The Savoy, where it is possible for us to create movement, sensory experiences and a curious edge through the way we light the room.
