I know that we are six months into 2016 already, but we are still on a high from an incredibly successful end to 2015. It was a fantastic autumn/winter full of brand experiences, Christmas parties and fundraising events. It is always good think back and one particular event highlight was the annual War Child Winter Wassail, last year held at One Mayfair.

War Child are a charity that we are particularly fond of – their work is extremely important, helping to sustain children who are in conflict war zones, and so it was a pleasure being able to contribute to their biggest fundraising event of the year. The Events Mill, a creative design agency, approached us to collaborate with them to produce the technical production for the event and to showcase something a little different. We had a spectacular opportunity to work in one of London’s much-cherished venues and at the same time to install a design that was entirely original. We wanted to create an atmospheric event and a landscape that evoked a night’s sky, with beautiful coloured reflections, twinkling lights and ambient detail.  Furthermore, the room was to be dressed with a series of charming clouds floating above guests as they dined from a menu designed by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall of River Cottage.  The overall effect was beautiful.

From a technical perspective this was a great challenge. It was imperative that we worked with our theatrical minds in gear, as we really wanted to create a spectacular visual experience. LUX Technical provided a full range of production services including all rigging and support structures, a bespoke stage for all performances, audio throughout the venue, draping, audio visual support and lighting design. Our client, Christopher Mills of The Events Mill, said “LUX Technical have once again blown my mind. Their work is of superior quality and they have produced exactly what I envisioned. What a pleasure it was to work with them on the second annual Winter Wassail”.

It was truly a wonderful experience being able to contribute our equipment to help create such a memorable event. The guests were treated to an assortment of entertainment, including performances from the likes of Jack Garret, Rita Ora and of course Mumford & Sons. The intimacy of the experience is something we will treasure – as an event it is honestly like nothing we’ve witnessed before.

We are committed to helping charities in their fundraising goals and will always support where we can. It gives us all a sense of pride knowing that we were part of an event that raised a vast amount of money to help children all over the world. Thank you War Child for giving us this opportunity.
